Volunteer With Us!
How you can make a difference
Have you ever thought about volunteering to help animals? If so, volunteering at the Appalachian Animal Rescue Center (AARC) shelter or the AARC Thrift Store might be your thing!
There are many ways you can volunteer. Here are just a few ideas:
· Assist at the Thrift Store on Old Murphy Road (sorting donations, putting donations on shelves)
· Dog-walking at the AARC Shelter on Lake Emory Road
· Cat and kitten socialization – play with them, pet them and talk to them, etc.
· Assisting with fund-raising and/or adoption events
· Laundry and cleaning/grounds maintenance
· Fostering
· Light front office work (answering the telephone, greeting visitors, etc.)
Volunteering at AARC will not only help improve our furry residents’ lives, but your life as well. Dogs and cats (and other animals) provide powerful mental health benefits, helping people to cope with depression, anxiety and stress. Animals can also ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and improve cardiac health. So come volunteer and be part of our family at AARC. We guarantee you (and the animals) will be better for it!
At the thrift store, your role could include sorting donations, organizing items, or assisting customers. Proceeds from the store often support the shelter’s operations, so your contribution can directly impact the animals’ well-being. Both opportunities provide ways to give back, support animals in need, and contribute to your community.
To get started becoming a volunteer, simply download and print the volunteer application form below. Once completed, you can submit it by mail or in person at our shelter and we'll reach out with more details on how you can get involved. Your time and support will help us continue our mission of caring for animals in need!
